IWC - Tanzer - Issue 151, Jul/Aug 2010
2007 Chianti Rufina - 90 Pretty, bright red. Floral aromas of redcurrant, blackberry and cherry
show a delicate smoky nuance. Then fresh and lively on the palate, with a juicy quality to the
varietally accurate redcurrant, sour red cherry and mineral flavors. Finishes bright and long,
with noteworthy precision.
2006 Chianti Riserva Rufina - 91 Slightly darker ruby-red than the entry-level Chianti. Inviting
notes of cocoa and underbrush mingle with red berry and smoky plum aromas. Rich, chewy
and smooth, with good focus to the flavors of red and black fruits complicated by minerals and
flint. This remarkably graceful wine boasts sneaky concentration, polished tannins and very
good length. I especially liked its bright, pristine flavors.

Frascole estate panorama
|
The family home on the Frascole estate is bustling with the likes of three active children, two dogs, multitudes of friends and family. The cellars and their barriques hold the prize of their organic farming, 100 % Sangiovese based Chianti Rufina, while their olive trees produce some of the finest extra virgin organic olive oil that we have ever tasted.
The order of the day is simplicity and honesty - there is an understated elegance to the life that they lead. Their wines speak of purity, and the hospitality with which the wines are served is exemplary
The estate is located in Dicomano, a small village north of Florence. The farm covers an area of 98 hectares, partly located on the valley floor where they grow peaches and plums, and partly on the hill where they cultivate vineyards and olive groves.
Enrico and Elisa Lippi created their farm because of their passion for agriculture, which has been handed down from generation to generation in their family.
The farm centre is the holding Vico, where the produce the "'Frascole" Chianti wine Rufina DOCG, as well as Vin Santo and extra virgin olive oil.
Vico is located on the hill of Frascole (at about 400 m above sea level), which dominates the town Dicomano and is an important archaeological area of the Etruscan period. Vico consists of a small complex of buildings dating back to the Middle Ages that are surrounded by vineyards (covering about 15 ha) and olive groves.
